SummerSings

Since 1991 the annual program of SummerSings, co-sponsored by Con Brio and Cappella Cantorum, has provided an opportunity to enjoy choral works without the pressure of preparing for performance. It offers the experience to work with acclaimed conductors and professional soloists. The 2025 season was tremendously successful with over 500 singers participating.  See below for complete details of the 2026 season. Note that the Brahms Requiem (July 6) will be sung in German, as composed: Ein deutsches Requiem (Edition Peters).

Six SummerSings this year!!
We invite you to join us for a Season of SummerSings on three Mondays in July beginning on July 6, and three Mondays in August beginning August 3.  There is no SummerSing the week of July 27.
For 35 years Con Brio Choral Society and Cappella Cantorum have collaborated to host SummerSings. All who enjoy singing, or would like to explore choral singing, are warmly invited to come. The entrance fee is $20, ($5 for students), with no extra charge to borrow a score for the evening.

Tips to Enjoy SummerSings

  • You are welcome to bring a water bottle, but please put your name on it. That way if it gets left behind, we know who it belongs to.
  • Wear layers. The church is air conditioned, but temperatures vary by seat location and it always gets warmer once we start singing.
  • Because we have a different conductor for each event, SATB seating location may change week to week.
  • Bring your own score, if you have one. Please take the time to MARK THE MEASURE NUMBERS in your music.  Not all scores will match exactly, but most measure numbers will line up. Also, make sure your name is on your music.

A note about scores:  Most of the music we perform is widely available and many of you have these scores in your personal library.  We do our best to provide scores for you to borrow.  This is not an easy process.  We recognize that scores may differ slightly in page numbers due to new editions, etc., and sometimes vary widely. We will rarely have 100% matching scores and we are very grateful that we can still obtain scores for you at all.  Please enjoy them and do your best to follow along.  Complaining about the scores that are available improves no one’s experience, especially that of the committee.  The committee appreciates your understanding.
SummerSings are a wonderful way to keep singing through the summer, without a significant commitment of time. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other singers through a shared musical experience.
